Active Ingredients:

There are polysaccharides, caffeic acid esters (echinacoside), isobutyl amides (echinacea), essential oils and polyacetylenes as well as vitamins, minerals, oil acids, glycoproteins and sterols.

Effect and Areas of Use

It reinforces the skin’s natural defense mechanism. Due to its anti-inflammatory characteristics, it has a soothing effect for skin irritation. The hexane extract of echinacea shows antimicrobial activity against the fungi.

Echinacea purpurea has in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory effect. Alkylamides from the roots of E. purpurea has an activity which partially inhibits COX 1 and COX 2 isoenzymes. In vivo tests for E. angustifolia and E. Pallida have also shown that topical application of these plants has anti-inflammatory effect.
